your local dealer should have one there lol. im a lil to far to help you out. i would say do it yourself, but that is really difficult to do on a d-max. you have to remove the starter and put a flywheel holding tool in so you can break the harmonic balancer bolt loose.

yea if it wernt for have to take the harmonic balancer off it would be easy. but unless you have a way to keep the engine from turning over and a braker bar about 9 feet long then it aint going to happen. that mutha is tight!!! any question or need info on it let me know.

Can't you do the breaker bar on the harmonic balancer nut braced against the frame rail and then crank the starter trick? Should break the bolt loose. Re-torquing would be a biatch though. I didn't even think you needed to pull the starter if you had enough impact or bar to get the harmonic balancer off.

    Thumbs up

Very good tech named Greg at Simpson GMC in Buena Park,

They're authorized to do all warranty service on both Chevy/GMC

He just started a DMAX club in O.C.: Diesel Trucks of Ca.

Call 800-405-3614, ask for Jose to set up appointment with truck tech Greg,

He goes by Stewietuned at TheDieselplace.com, hit him up over there with questions.

you could try the breaker bar against the frame and cracnk but it doesnt always work. i have also been able to pull the acess cover on the trans and you can stick a foot long prybar in and lock the engine up by the torque converter to flywheel mounting tabs. this will let you break the bolt loose and retorque it. thats the fastest way i have figured out how to do it without pulling the started.

I have a ford, but i have had nothing but great experiences with Trans West Truck Center in Fontana....right at the 10 and Cherry. They work on big trucks usually..have some real mechanics there..not some kid with an SCE patch on his shoulder. They will negotiate prices too..they're not on a dealer 99.21 dollars an hour schedule.
