    Default Vibration when towing

pulling my jet boat, 19ft tunnel, with the bed loaded, I have a bad vibration at highway speeds, 65ish, i can drive out of it, whole truck shakes, you can see the dash vibrate, feel it in the seats, i just put in new u joints, trailer is new, maybe 500 loaded miles on it, truck is a 98 Z71, i am thinking that the load changed driveshaft angle and u joints needs attention, but then again, maybe its the trailer tires out of balance? what do you think?

I think it is due to the simple fact of the bowtie on the front of it.

My boat trailer fenders always shook, and i figured they just didn't have enough support. Then i got new tires and it's gone. Just a simple tire balance was needed all those years.

I had a carrier bearing get worn out on my F250 and it aced like that. The actual bearing was fine, but the rubber isolator was torn all to hell and it would viberate at highway speeds

Go to a Les Scwab and have them rebalance your wheels, they do it for free. You may have thrown a weight and thats all it is. Mine did the same thing , shaky fenders, I pulled in there and an they did a 4 wheel balance in about 40 minutes. In and Out.....

If you have a two piece drive shaft. When you replaced the u joints did you mark the shaft. You could have placed it 180* out of phase causing an imbalance.

For a few extra bucks, get the shaft balanced after joint replacement. IMHO-money well spent.

    Is the truck lifted?

    Ubolts tight?

    Driveline in phase?

I had a similar problem with my car hauler a few months ago. Really felt like a vibration from the rear tires of the truck...or maybe a driveshaft. When I pulled over, I found out that the trailer itself had a bulging tire.

I'm only posting this because I would've sworn the vibration was in the truck, not the trailer - but it was exactly the opposite.
