    Thumbs up Power Stroke Problem

I just recently replaced my EGR cooler on my Ford Power Stroke 6.0L for the second time. First one blew at about 73k miles and this one at 103k - just out of warranty. Found out that Ford has had lots of problems with these. Since I was going to be replacing this one on my own nickel, I decided to do some research first. Found this product online and thought that it made sense. I bought one and installed it - it works well so far. Will put some more miles on it this spring.

Has anyone else had a problem with their EGR cooler?

Glad to see someone else made the plunge to buy this unit also. I put an OEM unit on my ford on my own nickle the first time mine went bad (at 115,000 miles) and it wasnt cheap. When my second one went bad i wasnt about to get raped again on this part and looked for another option. I found this same unit and it works great and is much heavier duty design. In my opinion (which means nada ) I dont think i will be replacing it again. This newly designed unit has my vote . Nice to see someone build a better mouse trap so to speak.

My buddy owns a 2006 Power Stroke in his tow truck. He was talking to me about how he has put 3 Ford coolers in this same truck! We talked about this new EGR cooler upgrade kit and he started to ask some questions. We ordered one online and are installed it.. I will also keep the forum up to date on how long it lasts and how it works for him.

    He bought it here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3AIT&viewitem=

    Here are the installation photos:

Yeah, our 2005 Excursion has only had 1 problem in the 76,000 miles we've owned it since new.... 2 EGR's! Warranty is up in a year or so, so we'll be looking at the same situation (no $100 deductable anymore). Luckliy, each time they failed we were near a dealer.

Can't image how I'd feel if we were in a remote area (Glamis) with our 32 foor toy hauler hooked up and we failed....

    Default 6.0

The dreaded 6 liter! 2005 Excursion and EGR went at 75,000, also have gone through 2 power steering gear boxes but finally installed a steering assist kit and I run the stock size tires, go figure. In the shop now with the engine removed to fix an oil leak. 100k almost up

I am so glad I got rid of mine when I did and replaced it with a 2000 7.3!

The website is: www.thedieselstop.com and if you guys need parts dont forget to find the International Truck dealerships. Some parts are discounted greatly there compared to a Ford Dealership and they are the same part. In addition, www.northernautoparts.com has some good pricing.
