    Default Fuel additive lubricity study

    I know rivertrash has a thread on additives but I wanted to start this one to show the work that Arlen Spicer has done to rank the additives according to their lubricity efficiency. This is a pdf;

    Note that Opti-Lube XPD, the additive I use, is second only to biodiesel...

    I'm a member over there and because of that study, I go out of my way to run some Bio to clean out the fuel system once in a while. I wish I could run more then B5 though. I have run B20 once and it ran great but I worry about the long term effect on the DPF.

    OK, the Opti-lube summer diesel fuel treatment sounds like an excellent additive. Now, where can I get it locally?

    Good thread! Im a member there too (bow-tielover).

    Ive been using RBP for a few years and its funny that its not even on the list.

    I just had an oil analysis done and from talking to the lab, they said stop running that crap and to go with the Opti Lube summer/winter blend.

    I like the gauge aspect of it. On level 3 ~60HP, I don't like the way it shifts, but it runs great. I haven't put it on level 4 ~75HP yet. Good and bad as is everything, if I was going to do it again, I think I would do PPE Hot+2 so I could do DPF Delete. I called Edge about some of the advanced options and wasn't all that happy with the results so. All in all, it's a nice unit.

    I did the Hypertech before and was not happy with the performance. I called tech support and they didnt offer the dpf delete so I went to the Qaudzilla Stealth II.

    I set mine on 90HP tune and it drives great (everyday driving). I drive mainly city and have a light foot. I put it on 110HP for the drive to the river a few weeks ago and it gets great miliage but I can feel it shift bad when driving in town, but does great on the highway. on the 110 it blows alot of black smoke so that wont work when towing the boat. The 90 dumps smoke on shifts and acceleration but not that bad. I usually drop it into 5th on steep grades and let the rpms get to 2500-2800 @ 80mph and watch the egts go down a few hundred degrees. The turbos like to spin.

    I really need to do a Transgo JR kit on the Allison.

    I would recommend buying the Transgo Jr. from "Dirtbikindad" on DP. He sells them new for $100. If you need somebody to install the kit, let me know, I know a d-max tech that also does performance mods, like my evo.

    Except for when you have to wipe all the soot off of your boat after a tow.
