    Default 2008 2500HD Silverado

Well we finally took some photos of the new tow vehicle---2008 HD Silverado Diesel w Allison 6spd 4x4.

The Suburban/8.1litre 4x4 is also a tow rig when the entire family is aboard.

Rivertrash---the above photo should look familiar.

New2cats--- this post should have gone in your prior one ie... lets get it started better late than never.

    Very truly yours,

    Thanks Dennis and Highflyer:

Highflyer thanks for the compliments. I was in Havasu Wed and Thurs that might have been when you seen the rig. Wednesday was blowing 40mph winds, white caps and swells on the lake [No we were not on the water until Thursday.]

Dennis I sent you a PM--- now all you need is a Howard behind that awesome truck. The truck really cooks even with the boat behind it people give you that look when you pass them on the highway. Your little rocket sled is childs play you won't even know it's on the back of the truck.

That Duramax has some serious power and torque it also has a manual shift mode that makes it pull like a standard transmission power on demand. Thus, far I'm impressed with the power.

We had a Powerstroke prior to the Silverado and it was weak in the power department. The Ford did have a larger bed for a short bed model and larger interior room. However, the power curve definitely favors the Chevy by a substantial margin. I also drove the twin turbo Ford and the Chevy smoked it in acceleration and power delivery across the rpm range.

We are quite happy with both vehicles the real test is when we turn over 100K plus in mileage. I hope we will be just as happy with the reliablity and power of the vehicles.

P.S. Now if only the oil companies stopped gouging us for Diesel---yea! I know it's a pipe dream.

    Hello BillyB:

Well we may go up to Havasu for the day or two during easter/spring break with the kids.

Those photos are not the best but Rivertrash prompted me to post up some photos. He has a smokin ride in his signature line a 4x2 model--- talk about towing power a 4x2 pulls harder than any 4x4 with the same load. He can probably light them up.

    Very truly yours,

We went with an RCD 6inch lift it comes with Bilstein shocks. The tires were Nitto Terra Grapplers on 17 inch 954MotoMetal wheels. The ride height was set to 4 inches we did not want it real high.

The ride is superb and very comfortable we have the auto level feature and I must say it does the job nicely.

It also has a Amp Power Step and intake.

The Suburban is a beast with the 8.1 litre big block and carries the whole family. I just wish it had the tow mirrors and better gas mileage. If Chevy would only make the Suburban in a Duramax Diesel they would have a sure fire winner.

Nice truck John! Love my 8.1 ltr suburban except for the gas. If I had bought a duramax like I should have...whoa.....it's frickin expensive filling it up now...

    Hey Scott:

Ah! you have a great mindset---FYI Scott and his father co-own a beautiful Howard Sportdeck.

Well the diesel at least gets 3 miles to the gallon more per mile. The mileage and fuel consumption is nothing compared to the boat.

Anyway wouldn't trade it for anything else. It was great seeing you and your dad at the show you both are ambassadors for Howard and the boating community.

We will see you at Desert Storm.

    Very truly yours,

    KAP
