Default Heater help on GMC 2500HD

I have a 2004 GMC 2500HD 4x4 with the 8.1L. The heater only is hot on the passenger side. It has the dual climate control. It also doesn't change temp when the A/C is on . It blows full cold and won't change when adjusted on drivers side. I am assumeing it is a temp door somewhere under the dash. Is this a pain in the ass to fix? I have been working on cars and trucks all my life, but I never messed with this kinda stuff. Any help would be cool!! Thanks in advance!!

    Mike

go to the dealership and buy a lh temp actuator. when you've got it in hand, give me a pm and i'll tell ya where to put it. all it takes is a 7mm and 7/32 sockets to change, i can do em in 5 minutes

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

#9 in this pic is the actuator you need to change out. it takes a 7mm to get the bolts outta the lil hush panel under the passenger side dash. take it off and you'll see the lh actuator

you're very welcome i do 1 or 2 a wk as i said, all it takes is a 7mm and 7/32nds sockets to change, its pretty straight forward. just make sure when you get the 7/32 bolts(there's 2) outta the actuator, pull straight down on it or you'll break the temp mode door spindle off, that'd be reallllllly bad it slides straight down very easy once the bolts are out, its not something you'll have to fight.

Cool!! I will have it in hand this monday and put it in after work. Those sure are pricey mo-fo's! I get a discount since I work at a shop. It seems these go out a lot because the parts guy said he has plenty of them in stock.

    Default 2002 Chevrolet 2500HD 4x4 with the 8.1L

Nearly the same issue occurred on my 02 truck this past weekend. The air conditioning or heater only blows out the defroster. Climate control knob does not work. Could this be an actuator as well? No dual controls on my truck. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

sounds like the mode actuator may be taking a shit not to bad to change, but its kinda a bitch to get the actuator pawl to align with the defroster door tang. hold on and i'll get ya a pic

pull the lil duct underneath the driver's side dash loose, it just slips into the heater case. get a lite and locate this actuator and have someone turn the mode from floor to defroster(with ignition key on o course), see if the mode actuator actually turns or not:

We had the same problem 2 weeks ago....all we did was to pull the HVAC fuse under the hood, wait a few minutes, put the fuse back, turn the key on (don't start the truck), let it sit for a minute or so and the system reset it self....all has been fine since...
