thinkin of a 2000 sonoma 4x4 ,4.3 to pull a 18' rogers w/460. mostly local ,the odd pull(maybe once every other year) bout 5hr drive up hill both ways.would be perfect for the rest of the year & easy to drive around town. currently towing with a 97 3.0L pathfinder ,handles the boat fine except the hills.http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...630329192.html

x2 on the trans cooler then rock on! i pulled my big ass 21ft taylor sc with a bbf with my 99 2wd s10 blazer for yrs, still have the blazer and still on the same tranny. its the same trans as the fullsize trucks and geared about the same

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

my parents had a 90 or 91 astro van with a 4.3 and 700r4. for years they pulled the 21 fresno daycruiser everywhere (sucker is heavy). i don't completely remember, but i want to say that van had around 230k miles on it when the trans finally let go. that was somewhere around 2004 or so, and wasn't worth fixing, so it went bye bye....good setup though. same story with the 99 jimmy 4x4 4.3 they had after that. towed many boats, trans held out past 165k and just recently lost reverse. my lil bro. has it and just keeps driving it....just being careful not to need reverse, even still its keeps going....well forward.

still being produced in mass too i wish they'd make it coil over plug though like the ls motors, this new wastespark they put on in 08 has issues. #1 and #3 plugs will mysteriously crack and start misfiring, then you've gotta replace that plug, the plug wires and the coil. i think the cable length is the issue, but i've been fixing them with a new plug/new plug wires/new coil.

shittttttt lol i live on the foothills of the kiamichi mountains . the local towns have been on me to let them put a water tower on my place cuz its the highest point around. i can walk off my bedroom patio and it'll drop 100ft before leveling out to the horse ranch that surrounds my place. good thing i own my land and the minerals rights to it otherwise they could buy my mineral rights and do it without my permission. i told them to cough up 300k bucks if they want that lil .5acre to put up a water tower on, they declined i've gotta new well, i'm not worried bout water

Years ago I had a '91 GMC Jimmy 4 dr with the 4.3 TPI. It had the factory towing package with great torque and plenty of power for pulling. We would load it out with camping gear and the kiddies, and pulled an 18 foot '77 Taylor 460 BBF to Caddo Lake for many years with no problem. That old Jimmy was still strong when I sold it with 300K miles. The kids are all grown and gone, and it's just me and mama now with our little '82 Cimmaron SJ. Don't laugh, but when we go camping locally and want to take the boat, we take our '88 Suzuki Sierra 4X4.
