    Default Duramax/Allison problems

I think someone here is a tech and could give me alittle help.
I have an 02 3/4 duramax/allison. When I start the truck it sometimes does not want to go into gear. The gear position guage (if that what it's called) is not lit up. Sometimes it is, but the light is blinking on whatever gear I try to put it in.
Sometimes it will go in gear, but be stuck in 5th like a go cart.
I'll turn the key on and off a few times and then it works perfect.
Any idea wtf this is? I'm also getting a tranny communication error.

This is like a month old but, yes could either be the park nuetral safety switch or the NSBU switch.

The NSBU is what the shift lever linkage connects to and has the two big plugs on towards the rear of your truck.

Checking in on this. I might not have explained it good enough, but it turned out to be the ignition switch. I put one in last week and it's good as new. Thanks for the input.

Same thing happend to mine after I launched my boat and had to put the truck far in the water. On the side of the trany is a couple of plugs unplug them and clean them with contact cleaner and blow them out real good. What happens is the plug gets water in them and when its hot out the contact lube crystalize's and prevents contact try that before you replace anything good luck.
