    Default Trailer Wheels/Tires

We are thinking about putting new wheels and tire on our V-drive trailer. What are everyones thoughts on using automotive style aluminum wheels on a tandem axle trailer? Our concern is whether they can handle the side loads produced when turning sharply. Same thing with the tires, a salesman told us that you have to use 4 ply tires for the twisting when you turn. The trailer formerly had reverse steel wheels with radial TA's that are obviously auto tires.

We are looking to get by as cheap as possible so we were tempted to just get 2 ply tires for it.

    Thanks

    Default car tires

I ran them on my 19 daytona trailer without a problem and just put some 16"X8 spoke rims with 45 series tires on my 21 ,I wouldn't go any lower, some people even go to 35's not much room for error, it all has to do with weight some tire guy freak out if you tell them there going on a boat ranting on how it won't work and it's unsafe
the smart one's ask how much does your boat weigh? and there ok with if it's in the load range of the tire

My tire guy asked me what the boat weighed and when told him he said the car tires were MORE than enough.

I ran Weld Rodlite xP polished aluminum wheels on my 19 foot Hallet double axle trailer with radials and never had any issues.
