Are they Blue lines??? VDO made a couple different versions of tachs..depending on the rpm range. I have a couple different blueline vdo tachs. One tach has a 6000rpm max, and the other has a 7000 rpm max. If you have to replace it, be sure you get the right one. They are discontinued, but available if you know where to go get them.

All but the voltage gauge have 3 terminals (beside back lit lighting terminals)

    1) + 12V
    2) - 12 Volts
    3) S Sensor (tach, oil pressure, temperture, drive position, etc...)

Be sure you have 12 volts and ground....the tach siginal is varible, and actually drives tach.

yup...very popular in the 1980's on many high end custom boats. Does your model have the chrome bezel or black. The chrome seem to be much more dificult to find.

There is a company in North Carolina I believe that repairs gauges, but this type is sealed.
