    Default Trailer Re-do

Say over this winter if I wanted to re do the trailer how do I get it off the trailer and then what do I do with it then? oh its a 72 Hondo.

I think some one on the boards got theirs off with two cherry pickers. Its not like you can just put it on cinder blocks.

most set the hulls on old tires, they allow to compress in the heavier areas. What I'm doin right now just watch the strut.

I used a couple of tires with the rims still in on the bottom and a couple more without rims on top. Worked fine.

If it's going to live inside, especially if its in a tight space, I'd build a dolly for it so you can roll it around.

    Build a box frame that will support the boat...maybe 6' x 6' out of 2 x 4s.

X brace it, put wheels on it. Maybe some carpet to keep it from scratching.

I totally didn't think of the tires, I have tons of Old Aircraft tires at work!

    This might actually happen!

My concern is the two Cherry pickers, one would go on the bow the other on the Pump. Its not to much weight on the pump is it? Say I loop it around the bowl.

Most people build a wood box frame that is on casters so they can move it around also.

    Default Dolly for boat

    Check out this thread http://www.performanceboats.com//sho...?t=4149&page=3

Post #66 and #67 you can see the Dolly this guy made to work on his boat and trailer. 2x4's casters and some cross bracing.
Gives you mobility cause you know wherever you set the boat down you're going to want to move it.

SO I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I got the two Cherry pickers to get it off the trailer. I am either going to set it down on tires or some blocks. I have no need to move it once it's off the trailer.

Will everything hold when I lift it off the trailer? if the Engine stay's in the boat (327 with a lil ol 144 blower) it has full tanks too (50/50 91 avagas)

It may make more sense to pull the motor.

I watched them at the boat show. They used forklifts with straps completely around the hull, one on each end. Try to look up some old boat show pics when they are setting up.

Put a jack under the stern of course with a block.Pick it up enough to get a tow strap underneath and use a cherry picker.Or take it to the water and get the strap underneath when reloading.
Tie a piece of rope through the bow hook with towels to cushion the stress.
Buy a case of beer and invite your buds over to help.
If you decide to build a dolly don't skimp on the casters.

    Default Paint

I have used Star auto in Glendale and also Auto Collision Center in Newhall. If you de-rig yourself and get it blasted it is not much work for them and very inexpensive. I usually pay 3 - 4 hundo. One was painted orange and the other 2 black.
