Paul whats currently on there looks like PL5200 (or similar) and re "Strange" yes because of the "mold insert" design theres no room for adjustment Tom

I saw one of those at Shasta last summer on our last trip out.
Thing was brutally fast with out much engine. Very nice boats from what I saw.

The owner claimed it would do 90 MPH.
I don't think it looked like 90 from watching it, but it was an honest 75 plus.
The seal area was very different from anything I had seen, but it did not leak at all and I was jealous of that, since ours was going down like the titanic.

Looks similar to mine but different. My intake has some ribs on it that i have not seen before? Makes me wonder if they did cast some of thier own intakes?

You may be correct with your particular style intake, not sure. If it doesn't have any casting numbers on it, it very likely its not a Berkeley casting. I have only ever seen that intake installed in Sangers. For the most part it's a clone of a Berkeley with the exception of the strengthening ribs above the loader pad.

We've had a 74 and a 77 with this bolt up from bottom intake and this boat is a 76 so maybe in 78 or 9 they switched over. What year is the one in your picture Ron?

Update : I spoke at length to Harlan Orrin today Harlan worked as a tool maker for a time for several famous boat builders including Sanger and although he didn't recall the jet intakes he did confirm that Jack (Sanger) produced some of his own castings and quite possibly the intakes with the "fins" could have been Sangers own Tom
