Tips and tricks for the DIYboat guys

How about sharing cool tricks you use when working on your boat. I'll start.

I have a case of the "Drops"...dropping tools and stuff in the bilge where I can see them, but not reach them with-out a pick up tool like those flexable pincher things or a extending magnet deal.

The other day I dropped a 1/2 drive rachet wrench and the pincher or magnet would not pick it up, too heavy (note to self, get a heavy duty pincher thinggy)

I live 12 miles from town so going to the store to get a heavy duty pincher thinggy is not the best choice.

Heres the cool trick....got out the hot glue gun, put a glob on the end of a stick, stuck it down in the bilge on the wrench, wait a few seconds and "wall la" picks it right up.

Now I tie a string to stuff that I may drop

Come on guys, I know DIY guys are very creative when they need to be. Nobody else have some good tips to pass on?
