    Default NJBA nor cal

We have been diligently looking for a venue to have a NJBA race somewhere north of so cal. a couple of promising lakes fell through due to different reasons. We need YOUR help finding that "perfect" lake for a drag boat race, and to bring drag boat racing back to northern california!

perfect lake= one plus miles long, less than thirty feet deep, close to a populated area.

Tony - Any chance we could race near oakland? Not sure where other than seeing pictures and talking to some old timers that said they used to race in oakland...

Port of Oakland would never issue the permits for a race. For reasons including the same when the APBA Lake Merrit races were stopped.

    Default Oakland

I RACED THERE IN THE EARLY 70'S . IT'S NOW A PARK FOR PICNICS. AND THE BEST HAMBURGER IN NORCAL IS GONE. YA IT WAS A LITTLE WINDY AT TIMES. IF YOU COULD ASK RAY CASSELLI OR VERN AMERAL THEY WOULD AGREE. NOW WE DO HAVE THE BEST PLACE IN NORTHERN CAL. IT'S CALLED BERENDA RES. I'M WORKING ON SOMETHING FOR 2013. IT COULD BE BIG REALLY BIG. THAT'S WHY WE ARE WORKING WITH THE CITY AND LIONS AND ARE PUTTING ON A REGATTA ON JUNE 29TH AND 30TH TO GET ON THE GOOD SIDE OF THEM FOR THE FUTURE OF DRAG BOAT RACING IN NORCAL. SO IF YOU WANT TO RACE THERE WE NEED SUPPORT ON JUNE 30TH OUTING. ONLY $100.00 to $150.00 TO PLAY AND BBQ WITH THE NEW CALIFORNIA HOT BOAT ASSOCIATION. (nonprofit)

LIKE THEY SAY IF YOU WANT TO PLAY YOU HAVE TO PAY.

Could lake Merced be a possibility? I heard that they used to hold sailboat races there which i know sounds stupid to try and put on a dragboat race. IHBA put on a couple of races there and i dont recall wind holding up the program. I could be wrong it was probably 7 or 8 years ago.

The greenies, treehuggers, Earth First and every enviormerntal group would come out from underneath every rock they occupy to put a stop to it. Right behind them would be the residents of a 5 square mile area to help them. I can't imagine them tolerating a few fuel boats firing up at 7 AM on a Sunday morning. It would curdle their lattes.

Best kept secret on the west coast: CHOWCHILLA!!! If it was promoted well, the place would be packed!!!
As others have noted, trying to get a race in the middle of a populated area will have tons of opposition from... well everybody but the few remaining drag boat enthusiasts. JMHO.....
