    Default Overdriven VS Underdriven

    I have owned my 21 Day Cruizer for many years. My dad owned this Dan Arena boat sense 1984. Then passed it on to me
    We never thought we had the right prop combo on this boat.

    I called Tom Bentley at Menkens and he helped me get somethings right on this boat. He asked me to take a look at the V-drive unit and spin the drive and see the rotation on the prop shaft.
    In doing so I found that the v-drive was put in wrong from the factory back in 1978. The v-drive was upside down for all these years. Tom called it underdriven... With one rotation of the upper drive shaft. the prop shaft was only turning 3/4 of a turn
    With this change I will go from a 14 monster prop to a 12. I am sure I will get much more speed. Looking forward to getting this boat in the water soon.

    Do you have a Champion box in the boat, they are made to do just that, under or over, just flip the box. I believe Crusader as well is like this.

    Both will.
    If its a Casale, or a Hallcraft, then the gears are installed top to bottom. Its happened

    Depending on original power, it may have been set up that way on purpose. Cambell Carl may have something to add.
