    Default gears for elsinore

I ran Firebird in may and was turning 6900 Rpm, 104mph best time of 10:22 with 15's in the v-drive. Is elsinore water any faster. Should I try 12's to have a better shot at 10:00's. I think the motor would like a few more r's. Prop is a menkens 11 1/4 x16. Boat is a sanger runner bottom.

I personally believe the water is very similar. What's your motor combo? I would do some T and T on Friday and run your current set up first and then go from there. How did the boat leave with the15s? Was it still pulling the 15s at Fireturd? You should have plenty of time to change gears. Pick your poison and have fun!!!

the motor is a 496. I am trying to get a lot closer to 10 flat as I know there are several boats in that bracket that are capable of running on the number.

Give it a shot.. Can't hurt anything.. Just by the way things have been going, make sure the big gear goes on top.. I've seen/heard people doing that more in the last month than I have in my short life.. Good luck this weekend!!!

Hell ya! Put the 12s in there. Stick you a set 9s in the tool box just in case. It'll be ahhright!

12s would probably help. Also, an 11 1/4 is a big prop. I'd try something around 11 or even 10 7/8" diameter. Will help you early in the pass and also make it drive a bit easier. Wish were were gonna be there....Good luck.

I was thinking the prop could use a little trim also, I am supposed to report rpms at a couple seconds into the run and Harold will make the call on that.

I was thinking the same thing initially David but failed to mention it. I'm becoming a fan of the smaller diameters!!!

You mentioned Firebird in May, are you located in Phoenix? Where you at in your journey?

No time soon Armand. Got alot of stuff going on with work for awhile. I also broke my heap last time out. I got a brand new short block sitting on the shelf but no time or $ to finish right now. Good luck to you this weekend. Be safe.

I'd suggest making only one change at a time. Prop or gears.
