Ahh Bruce. You suffer from Ford on the brain? may come as a shock to your system, but there were V8s other than Fords by 1955.
My guess is its a Olds. Based on the cool hubcaps.

I qould question the boat being a 18' Campbell!!! I built wood decks for Campbell in my shop in the mid '60s. They did not have a glass deckfor their 18' boat. The mold dild not have a transom. All the boats had a wood transom.

...I found that boat sitting on a carlot in Sylmar about 5 years ago... ...I believe the consignor said the title said spcons or hmblt or however that is usually worded... ...I posted the picture a couple of years ago and someone here in the V-Drive section ID it as a Campbell... ...When some interest was shown I went back and the lot was closed,..and the boat was gone... ...Do you have any idea as to what you think it might be???...

No, you didn't see THAT boat when you were 3-4. maybe one just like it. That boat is NEW built by Harlan, probably form memory. That pic was taken at Long Beach Marine Stadium.
I built wood Mandellas from 1-57 throu 1960. My uncle bought the company after Joe Mandella died in 6-'56. The color pics are of a new boat I started in 1996. I drew the plans full size on plywood from memory and snapshots. The B&W pic is of one of the first plywood ski boats built by Joe Mandella. It was built for Rudy Ramos in 1950, shown in the pic with his speed skier and later to be wife, Frankie.
The pics were taken at the Long Beach Marine Stadium 50 years apart.

To give a good boat I D, the first thing that would need to be known is the length. Campbell built a 18' and 16' flat bottoms. I worked on the plug for the 16' boat hull.

Harlan, the boat is a Rusty Biesemeyer pre Caribbean all fiberglass hull from 1959. They were layed up by Campbell Hollywood Plastics, but to my knowledge not sold as "Campbells"
