Default 2012 Burley Regatta Friday afternoon Grand Prix Shootout...>

Over the past couple of weeks myself, Mark Moyle and Paul Fitzgerald driver of the Super Stock boat ss24 have discussed what we could do to really add excitement and value to Friday's racing program for the race fans. What we have come up with (a huge thanks to Larry Hamilton from Liquid Fix Motorsports input on this also) is a Grand Prix Shoot Out style Race. We have spoken with many racers about this and we are all very excited that this will be a really fun exciting race for everyone in attendance.

Overview of the 2012 Burley Regatta Friday Afternoon Grand Prix Shoot Out Format:
    - Six (6) boats will run a Grand Prix style shoot out race late Friday afternoon sometime between 5.00 and 7.00pm.

    - Boats will drawn from a hat to qualify for this event. For example all SS boat numbers present will go into a hat, the first 2 boats drawn from the SS hat will qualify to run the shootout, the we will do the same for PS and K. If someone cannot compete in the shootout in any of the three classes, we will draw another boat from that boats class from the hat.

    - The Grand Prix Shoot Out race will consist of 2 SS, 2 PS and 2 K Boats.

    - The SS boats will start the race first, followed by the 2 PS boats approximately 5-10 seconds (to be determined at drivers meeting) behind, then the two K boats will start last.

    - 3 Lap race total on the normal race track around the island.

    - Prize Money will be paid to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers + more to be confirmed.

    - We are very confident this will provide a close and awesome race that will have the crowd on their feet.

    - As at today we have $800.00 in cash prize money for the Friday Grand Prix Shoot Out. A huge thanks goes out to Paul Fitzgerald, Mike Stock & the Boise Crew, Chris Kenner Racing, Brian Weher/Tribal Thunder Racing, Sid Renalds/Simple Racing, Security Race Products and Ade Bloomfield - Bloomfield/Kentucky Racing for their donations to help make this happen. Mark Moyle is also working on some products sponsors that will go towards this race.

We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend for Burley 2012!! =) Thank you

You need to record this event to show us (cant be there's) how it went. This sounds like an awsome event to stage these boats together, cant wait to see.

Default Add a few SE boats to the shootout????

    Guys-
Not sure if it would be doable or you probably would have done it already........
What about adding a few SE boats out front, say 30 seconds ahead of the SS guys, or a maybe a half lap or so. Would that be too many boats at that point all coming together in the end???

I would think by now, you would know that WASN"T aimed at Shawn. I think/hope Shawn knows it. He asked a simple question without the ad libbing smart ass comments. Just thought I toss a couple comments of my own. My mistake for not "quoting" Besides, I am tired and cranky from running all over hells half acre picking up gas tanks, burning my hands on the hot POS after they sat in the Havasu sun for 3 hrs, and busting my edlerly ass getting ready to leave tomorrow, only to find out the GNs aren't invited to run in the Gran Prix Shootout. This is a total outrage!

The Shootout should be cool. I think the Ks will have their work cut out for them. My money is riding on the SS80

This should be cool to watch but here is one problem I see. To actually set each boat off in a staggered start the Ks will have a huge disadvantage because of how they start. The engines usually die the first crack at it and then you have to crank it over until the fuel is picked up. This could take 10 seconds in itself. If you are doing a true Lemans start, and the Ks go last, they will be in bad shape. The only way to remedy that is to have them already be idling and clunk them into gear and go.

Another thing you could do is have all boats following a pace boat in pairs. The pace boat cuts each pair free to go in whatever time increments you choose. If the PS70 gets pulled, it could be a rough one for everybody BUT, He will have to drive around a SS.

Anyway wish I could be there to meet some of you guys (especially Bob). Bob your posts are frieking hilarious. Actually the smartass comments are well deserved by most of the recipients........
