    Default Rayson Craft Question

I do not know much about Rayson Crafts but they sure seem to dominate the GN class.

what hulls are these three pictures?

    1) I believe this is a 21 ' crusier
    2) 19'-2" GN hull
    3) Not sure, but it looks to be a 21' GN type of Hull?

School me on what these are called. Thanks

#1 Is a 21 ft cruiser. "Tub of Fools". Fastest kilo ever set in a GN, 121+ but sure as hell not with that driver!!!! Who let Eason behind the wheel of that thing?
#2 THE 9 BOAT. All that needs to be said about that one. Rudy Ramos' personal GN. Dave Rankin (standing behind) drove it to more than a few wins, including the last race before Rudy passed away.
    # same hull as the 9 Boat.

Did rayson craft ever make a 21 foot that has the same deck as the 19 foot GN type hull as the #9 boat?

I believe the GN 3 boat in the third picture is up for sale. I'm not sure if someone put it up on the boards in the spam yet, but I know I have seen it on craigslist.

Yeah its been for sale for quite awhile. He had it at the Long Beach race with a for sale sign on it. He's a little to proud of the boat, and will be holding it for awhile longer yet.

Why do you say that? Its definitely out if my price range, but what's the story? Looked like a nice proven race boat and its a Rayson
You've seen it up close, whats your opinion?

I'm not a fan of the bottom mods. Its in decent shape. Not sure how proven it is.
As a lake boat it fine. If you were going to race it, you'd be into it for at least another 8-10, mainly due to the engine size.
also the boat is not a 21 its a 20.

What was done to the bottom? What type of modifications would it take to run better, say maybe as well as yours?

What, are you the guy selling it.
I not sure the mods make right or wrong. Just not want we have found to work for us. The strakes are HUGE on that thing, and as I remeber, extended alittle to fra back on the bottom. Everybody has their idea of what works for them. That isn't what works for us.

Haha, no, definitely not the seller. Just interested in some insights into GN racing from someone who has been racing and winning at it for many years. Thanks for the inciteful comments about an unknown world to a lake guy, they are appreciated.

I come from a background of true flats one a heavy ol wooden boat and the other a medium layup glass boat. We all know our waterways have become infused with bigger wakes being thrown around, so the idea of semi-v or maybe eventually a river cruiser is very intriguing to me.

    Since we're on the subject...
I've been reading lately about weight and horsepower for runner bottoms racing vs lake use. I was wondering, without giving away too many of your secrets, what works well with these type of hulls?

Is it a difficult transtion to get over trying to fly it like a flat?

    Thanks again
