Default CF number history? Very strange cf number on my hull.

    Hello all,
Last year I decided I would build my first v-drive, so like everyone else the search led to craigslist. I found a hull for $1500 that was bare, last reg '93 and the trailor '92. Got my excitement all built up, brought it home without a lick of paperwork, and have been learning and doing a whole lot since (much thanks to this forum).

So I have run across a few things that seem odd (please fire off any and all opinions).

1)there is a curved rear transom,
2)tag in the center of hull,
3)trailor came with the reminants of a MANDELLA (Louis Brummet) lisc plate frame.
4)When installing new (stick_on CF #'s) I sanded off previous CF, only to find a 3rd set (OLD) cf's....

So the oddest thing of all to me? After re-reading an e-mail I sent off, I noticed the tag in the center of the hull was the same numbers buried in paint under the CF. The PREVIOUS number (and hull number I guess) is 98156781. Anyone have any idea why this tag in the boat isn't a registerable number, and why the "original vin" would be displayed where the current Cf is supposed to be?

Post up pics of the boat, front, back, side, bottom, inside .... all from different angles. You have a far better chance of someone knowing what it is from pics.

Looks like a Mandella. Call Carson Brummett in Pasadena, California. Give him the number and he should be able to confirm.

Actually the floor picture is very close, the square pattern in your pic looks to be 2-3" wheras the square pattern is around 1" spacing on my hull. Other than that, I would say they are exact.

Where did u get the Serial number can you take a picture of a wider view. I'm in search of the serial number and Carson Brummett said it's by the vdrive area but my inside is painted.

The matching hull # and CF number is not unusal. Somebody made up the hull tag to meet DVM requirement for a hull ID, and the DMV gave it that number.

I bought a 19 ft Hallett from Mouzer sometime back. He remembers the boat. When I registered it, they issued me a hull number, and the CF number has the same last or 5 numbers as the hull number they issued me.
