i have a simple question for your bad ass boat mechanics,, i have a ls6 tunnell ram, roller motor. i use to allways run kendal racing oil..heading out to the river tomarow and going to change the oil.my question is ..should i run valvoleen racing 20/50 or 50 wt. im dealing with a local autopart store cause this change is last minet before i leave.so what do you think 20/50 or 50wt thanks for your input

Either will work if the engine requires a 50wt, but you need to take the time to warm it up good if you run the straight 50.

BTW, Where do you get Kendall RACING. I haven't seen it for over 10 years.

Go to the dyno section and type in oil in the search forum icon, upper right corner. You'll have more reading material/opinions then you care for. For that matter there aren't many questions you can ask that haven't allready been asked and thouroughly deliberated on. Use the search forum tool to your advantage in all the forums in here. Personally I run Valvoline VR1 20/50 in my motor, but I do think it's a little thicker than I need. A straight 30 would probably be more than adequate, though I wouldn't mind a high quality 10/40.

BTW, your Kendal Racing is now Brad Penn, find a dealer near you if you want it~

Which is what made ask where he was getting his Kendall? I got the idea the last time he changed his oil he used Kendall. It might have said Kendall, but it sure as hell wasn't he THOUGHT it was.

Not to jack the thread but....Talking about Kendall oil. Now it has Titanium in it. They say to replace the zinc and phosphorus. Does it seem to work. I know Bob will know.

Yeah, thats the claim. However, they still see the need to put the highest legal limit of ZDDP allowable in their straight weight and 20/50 "High Perfomance" CONVENTIONAL, but still has the Ti, AND THEY AREN'T BASHFULL ABOUT ANNOUNCING THE HIGHEST ZDDP POSSIBLE IN USED. Even with the HIGHLY taunted Ti.
It has about twice the ZDDP as all of their other oils, and about equal to Valvoline VR1 20/50 and straight weights. BUT, its ONLY in the 20/50, and straight weight CONVENTIONAL, with the 20/50 having slightly more the straight wt.
Personally, I never seen the straight weight and 20/50 High Performance conventional on the shelf at the auto store. Teague sells it. Don't know to many engine builders that will bless and oil that can destroy the engines they built. But I THINK he only recommends it for the N/A engines. I think the bad boys engines get the Amsoil Dominator Racing.

Just so you know, this is NOT Kendall Racing. See the word RACING anywhere on that label? This NOT the oil Teaque was refering to when he made that suggestion.

This is Kendall Racing. See the word RACING? This is the oil Teauge recommended when the boat was built 40 YEARS AGO. This is no longer available.

The SAME oil is available as Brad Penn. This is EXACTLY the same oil as Kendall Racing, from the same refinery.

Now you have the info, what you chose to do with it is up to you.

You were told this back on post #3.
