Option #1 is looking good... If we actually get this many commitments for PAYPAL were good to go. If we get 16 teams in place, that will give us a minumum of $700 in prize money. If we can negotiate the price down for the cost of the track, and you know I'm going to try, it'll be even more...

    Steve,

How about everybody just buys in and you draw for teams? This way you cant stack a team. What fun would it be?

We had this talk. Since this is a "v-drive" showdown, the racers should at least be v-drive owners IMO.

The problem with limiting the race to just v-drivers is where do you draw the line? Actual owners must bring pink slips but their kids don't own it so they're out? Do we allow just the families of v-drive owners. All the ringers will become distant cousins.... We could draw for names, I don't have a problem with that. We could break up the teams that represent each class of boat. I for one, just want alot of seat time so I opt for the 2 man team. Whatever you guys want to do....

I've been thinking about what would be better.. I know that first and foremost this event is suppose to be for FUN. But then again, it is a RACE. Best team wins. I know that some people are going to start importing international race car champions (Uhem....GORDY) and stacking their teams. This is definitely not in the spirit of the "V-Drive Showdown. I know you guys thought that I brought in a "ringer" last time (his name is Gary Fisk). Gary is the one who turned me on to this and is a big part of helping me organize this so I don't want to exclude him just for not owning a v-drive. My dad likes this event and he doesn't own a v-drive personally but I'm not going to exclude him either.

I think for the team races, we draw names, eliminate ringer advantages, bring whoever and have some fun. When we identify the fast true V-drive individuals we can do an individual race format at a later time and have a real V-drivers Individual Event. What does everyone think??

Good luck with working this deal out. I would like to see it just be v-drive guys. The ringers are just going to complicate it & turn it into a deal where the winner has the right connection.

But at the same time, what fun is it to tell someone they can't compete.

For PAYPAL we could set the buy in rate at $75 each. Our break even number is 33 participants that is 16 (2) man teams or 11 (3) man teams etc... Once we get a total number of participants we can decide what size teams to make (preferably all the same size) and go from there... If we get more than 33, we got prize money...
