Picked this up this week to start putting together, it went straight to the glass shop. Anyone know the history of this boat...last CA sticker was from 2001. Had purple flames in front to gray base in back.
You can Blame Rick at Islander Marine, the previous owner said he used a grinding wheel on it to get the stress cracks out...It will be a lot of work glassing it but someone needs to keep these boats alive.
Congrats on choosing a great boat to bring back to life. These boats make great river boats as they are strong as hell and as good looking as any boat can get. Please keep the pictures coming.:thumb:
Here is a picture of an LP that I had in the early 70's
mine road like a 67 Cadillac with square wheels and could never get it to settle out no matter how much power I gave it ,, plus side you can crash thru the biggest rollers

im no raysoncraft expert so.......my boat originally w a 4 seat ski boat I moved the engine up tried 10, 12 18 gears I stayed with the 18 the boat porposed all the time, setting the cav plate with the bottom of boat helped but im sure it prop shaft strut was too steep when I ran it up on rpm it ran smooth as soon as I ran out of speed and rpm here goes the up and syndrome . the boat was a cruiser it would get up to 75 easssssy never tried to go any faster tried a couple different props the 2 blade hill prop seemed to work best on e thin I needed to do was to get the transom plate to move more down it needed a down peddle all it had was the hand cav adjuster but sold the boat

Good looking RC. A friend of our family had one that was a great boat. It was well set up with a good strut angle and weight balance with the engine in the right place. With the right setup I know these hulls work well.
 No way Steve, are you really thinking of selling yours, that thing is sweeeet... Know you have had back issues but damn, hate to see you sell it..
That's really a nice job you have going on there. I always thought an all white LP looked clean and uncomplicated in its lines. There was only one other I've seen on the boards that was all white and it stuck in my mind about its appearance. Mine is the stock blue metal flake and 'high-hide yellow' around the seam.
What type of finish did the painter use on it? Due to the stress crack repair did you guys lay any light weight cloth over it first? I was told that was one trick used to keep the cracks from coming back thru if they're extensive. Both the LP's I've been involved with have had that problem with spider cracking gel in areas of no impact- just appears to be stress. Crashing thru all them rollers over the years
, I guess....
