The major deal here is that blowers do not disperse air front to back equally. Standing still or moving. So they get a front discarge blower and center the discharge over the center of the eigine. Take a peek at John Forces stuff right now. The intake looks like a cast single plane intake for a carb. But the runners have individual burst panels. Alan Johnsons are very similar as well.

Buzz: Doesn't the helix of the rotors have a big effect on the discharge of the unit as well?

Lefty, it can do both becouse it has a TR-4 bottom.
