Default Put some plate into it.

Is the cav plate up? whos prop is it? what been done to the motor? Call r&b props in san bernadino talk to ron he'll probalbly ask you some of these same questions. My 26 ft had a 454 worn out no cav plates and a worn out prop, 10 % gears and the most i could get was 33 mph, now i've added a blown 468 ruffly 850 hp, cav plates adjustable, 25 % gears and and a 2 blade prop from r&b and i GPS @79.5 mph and now out of gear. Good luck any questions give me e-mail info@dmpfasteners.com

That sounds about right. My Dad's gets 58mph with a stock 460, same hull and gears. I believe the prop is a 12x16 3 blade.
I wake up and I piss excellence.

Seems like a lot of gear for a big, heavy boat. Mine has 15's with a 12-14 prop and I think 15s are on the big side.

    Cut your gears in half.

Stick with the taller gears and go with less pitch in the prop. These hulls have handling problems that have been discussed over and over on this forum. Use a lower pitch prop and let it spin faster. Also avoid props with tail lift.

What do you consider a lower pitch prop, Eliminator currently has a 12-14 prop.

Might try a smaller dia. prop also, I have used as small as 11 1/4X16 on my Howard 21'. The smaller dia props usually generate less tail lift.

I would try maybe 11 or 11.25 diameter like VDcruiser mentioned and 12 or 13 pitch.

I have the same boat. Around 400hp. 15% gears. The prop is 11.5 x 16 with no cup and it's raked for a little bow lift. I run 60 mph at 5000rpm.

Sounds like you are low on power for the size of the prop.
