So I picked up a rayson craft with a 455 olds this last season. runs greats and strong but slaps the water real bad. Is this a cavitation plate issue? I have a cavitation plate but its fixed and pretty level with back should it be pointed more down? Anywhere around 30 mph and above im beating the sh** outta myself n my lady doesnt make for a great end of the trip when she hurting..

I have a 64 schiada although its dose have an adjustable cav plate I had the same problem and yes if you take a straight edge and lay it across the bottom of the boat from front to back so its on the boat and the plate at the same time you can tell if the plate is even if it is bring it down but only a little at a time and then test it. Im no expert but try about a 1/4 inch at first . good luck

Take a picture of the back of the boat showing the plate and hardware, this will help make some determination of your problem.........

Keep in mind, most of these older boats had a fair amount of rocker in the bottom and perform similar as most hop a bit trying to achieve optimum performance. The bottom of a boat, cavitation plate and propeller will determine how the boat will act!

Good Luck........

P.S. Reno, do you need this remark broke down, don't you find these forums a bit crazy at times? First, I welcomed him to the board and then it's up to him to separate the truth from just plain BS and pulling each others chain... If you fell I offended him, I apologize, you'll develop thick skin with age!
