I have purchased a roll of stainless steering cable to resell. I had to buy 500' to get it. It's aircraft cable and is incredible to work with. I had been buying it from somebody in San Diego and he ran out and never replaced it. So I did, because once you do a boat in this stuff you will never go back. It is very tightly wound and it results in a very flexible steering cable that is smooth to the hand and bends like nothing you have ever seen in a cable. Your wrap around the quadrant is so easy and also the other end where you clamp.

I am selling for 1.50 a foot and you will pay shipping. The average flatbottom takes around 30 to 34 feet...so the investment is minimal compared to your other parts...lol

I agree the stainless cable is the right choice, i used it on my Stevens last year. I chose stainless cable with the clear vinyl jacket. I used vinyl coated steel cable 20 some years ago on the same hull, and the vinyl had lost it's clear and became yellowed, but not cracked or unusable. I wondered then as now if the coated cable was "correct" for safety, what say y'all? I can't tell if RCL's roll is coated cable or not.

I don't wanna be my normal douche bag self...but honestly the coated cable is not right for the boat...it really is not the right thickness for the pulleys and other gear pertaining to the steering...I'm sure you will have other responses that mirror my thoughts......in fact in all my years around these sleds...I've only seen coated cable once.

Aircraft cable trivia: All legal aircraft cable have real fine mix colored nylon threads down the center core of the cable (1) identifying legal aircraft cable (2) Different color combinations reflect the manufactures color code, so the FAA has no trouble identifying the cable manufacturer if need be!

I am in for 40' to be safe for my Hondo. Should I email or call/text you with my address for a shipping quote? What is your preferred method?
