Heck, put it together and run it...you may get bitten or you may have saved yourself building a race boat and find out you don't like it. Plus you still need a fun boat for skiing/family stuff...

The speed limit is 80mph and it is very strict. If you go over you get beached, this is so other classes dont use nastalgia as testing. I have raced the endurance class quite a bit and it is perfect for someone to "run what you brug" and see if you like racing. Make sure you have what Ross stated and come on out, we can always use new racers.

    Default Sanger Race Boat

Check out what model of Sanger hull you have!!!!
In the early '70s when I built the Sanger circle race boats, they won national championships, running a lot faster than NOSTALGIA 80 mph.
The only place you can win a nostalgia race in in the turn. SEAT TIME IS PREMIUM!!!!!!! Weight may help a driver learn.

Thanks for the info. I do know that it is a 19' foot bubble deck and is a flat bottom, it has a short deck on it as well. I know that it is a very heavy hall.

The successful circle runners are 18' 3".

    This is what you want.

While we are on the subject of the Nostalgia class, what are the typical gear ratios used. I would think it would be a rather short gear since the ultimate MPH is not what the class is about.
    Any ideas..........??

Just like my Sanger, 19' ski. Your boat is plenty capable for it. Learn first, upgrade later.

Thanks for the info. I was concerned about the motor not being spun as I have heard the reason for this is because it will change the direction of the prop rotation thus allowing you to swing into a turn better as well accelerate out of a turn better as well.

sharp, this is what I would love to have. I did own the top one but bought it of ebay and when I picked it up I found a lot more work was needed as the hall had very bad stress cracks all over. So I had to sell it cheaper than I bought it.

    That sucks!

Sounds like you know what to get at least.

Good luck what ever you do.

Nostalgia is a great place to learn about the sport and get some seat time. 80 MPH seems a LOT faster in race conditions, than running across a lake. It is an absolute blast!

Since you already have a boat you are familiar with, I would reccomend you stay with that until you can check out other boats you want to compete against. You know, hang out and get some inspiration!
