    Default hull

Sounds like I'll be looking for a Hondo sprint

Jerry, why with a 9* strut? Did that hull just not respond well to the lower shaft angles that are being used today?

I should find out where that thing is (as it is advertised as being close to me) and go take some good pictures of it and see what kind of condition it is in. If it is in good condition it would be a good deal.

They came with 12 and 9. If you're working with a 12 you've got a lot of work to change it. I'm sure shallower angles work too.

O.K. You are talking about the setups that came from Hondo. It would be fun to have one of those that could run with a Biese. Had I know about this one sooner I would have got a friend of mine to buy it.

There you go, one b-boat spoiled hard racing big spender! Let the Nostalgia Father speak! This guy is real right?

Hey nunez, if you want to run in last place keep the Sanger. Hopefully losing every heat won't discourage you from racing anymore...

I think you know this already but here's what will happen if you listen to RCL and the other sanger supporters.

No matter how much time and cash you throw at the 19 family boat, you'll always represent last place respectfully. Eventually you'll either quit because you got tired of sucking everyone's wake or you'll step up to a Biesemeyer.

The Biesemeyer has totally different handling characteristcs and you'll be essentially starting over anyway.

Some of the guys in here just want to see you join the ranks with no regard for your future pocket book or they're so naive that they really think the Sanger is a good circle race boat.

Think about your future. You'll be better off getting your seat time in the same boat that you'll be winning the SS and PS championship with 5 years down the road.

You are so 'totally wrong' el MachoHoncho! And discouraging to say the least, and don't you go picking on my buddy Kemosabie!

I was wondering the same thing. The hole reason I started this thread was because I do not have the big money that these guys have and was wanting to get into this sport as cheap as possible for the first time and work up from there. But at the same time I don’t want to be in a boat that I’ll get my a** handed to me every time I go out either.

Well let me blab a bit Louis! My kind of guy! The yeller one is SS701 formerly SS70 of Bill Faulkner and once an ERR driven by Nick, it runs a slow 98mph GPS! Next to her sits the replical E66R, one of the lightest Ls I have ever seen and its SBC with 9 gears just ran 97 on GPS (go to APBA Moses Lake pictures) in the new Vintage Flat E boat class! The Orange Crush boat is now owned by its driver Mikie and he ran 103 breaking a new motor in!
The trunk less models had the same bottoms but a newer fancier deck. You could get either deck up until Al stopped making race boats in 1977. Of course, you know I'm a little partial to them. Of course the expert, Al Lavey is found golfing now days so send all you questions to Paul Grichar who was his 'winningest' test driver.

Ask a certain K-boat driver how many L boats he crashed into to get the lead! In one weekend, I think he took out two! Well, I am told they did a 'paint rubbin' all the time back then, no big deal! That's gonna leave a mark!

He is referring to reversing the rotation of a motor like used in some twin boat motor combinations of the past. And when Ray smokes Cuban Cigars he tends to ramble on a bit! I never do though. Right, Idiot Kemosabie?

Our total cost for our SK87 boat was $1400 and were racing for $6000! Then a Barron Sprint (same bottom as the Hondo Sprint) for $1800 and sold it for $3500 cause I didnt like the way it turned. Then I bought another Lavey for $5000, a real SS Lavey, turnkey! Should have kept that one but after my driving error crash, it had to go! for $5800. Had to be the boats fault, you know! Then the Aquacraft came along for $2500 turnkey! So I know what racing on a budget means. Also you can Keep expenses low by doing your own work and absorb all the good info here, with the possible eception of Sharp Shooter, he has 10 times as much in a race boat that might never see a race ......but, to each his own! I will PM you my phone number IF you are serious. And, you have heard it from a Master hull designer-tooler, Harlan Orinn, so dont be stupid and ignore his wisdom. Or, he might kiss you on the lips.....
