We are in the process of gathering as much information as possible for this restoration of one of the Panic Mouse Hondos. The boat pictured is the one we have. I know there were many Panic Mouse boats that were used with slightly different paint schemes and rigging. So if any of you out there have any information regarding this particular Panic Mouse and would be willing to share or help out in any way to make this happen we would be very grateful! Some of you have been reading a thread titled "Hondo 70-72 Fuel Flats" that I started and trying to track down an boat for someone looking for one and then the thread kind of took a turn towards the Panic Mouse boat we have. So I have started this new thread dedicated to a legend of our sport in hopes of bringing this boat the glory that it deserves.

We got this boat from the man that bought it from Ray. He wants it back pretty bad, but we will not turn loose of it. Before the boat was painted in its current paint scheme it was sanded down to the original gel-coat. Underneath the paint on the boat now are the exact original colors in the picture above when Ray raced this boat. I know this because I have seen the colors with my own eyes. It even has the shadows of 007 on the side of the boat in the original gel-coat. We plan on putting the boat back to its original state when the paint on the boat gets stripped I will snap some more pics for you. We do have some old photos before its was painted and I will try to get them scanned. They are not the best quality so I will see if I can brighten them up.

It was good talking to your Pop on Sunday. You guys are truly blessed to have this boat!
Told your dad I would forward him the link to the period correct Dragster I did so he could get an idea of the kinda detail that needs to go into the project...

AND to all who doubt whether its a Panic Mouse...after talking to Aaron and his father and hearing who had it before them and the whole story...trust me...It's the REAL DEAL!!

ARE YOU ALL AS JEALOUS AS I AM???:D:D

I appreciate the cap .... It is a period piece leave it that way .
See if its the same boat and looking for evidence of Rivit holes that where filled , then hunt down the capping piece if it is the particular panic mouse boat It's kinda sexy

I never doubted it was the real deal, I just wanted to hear some provenance. I work in the concours world and its not unusual for some one to find a verifiable piece of a car and build a story on it being "discovered" then build a whole "new" car around an old engine or frame.
And since a PANIC MOUSE was the first flat I ever drove that got me into this whole mess, I was curious.

Here are a couple of old photos of Panic Mouse that were snapped with a old Polaroid Camera back in 1990 the pictures have been sitting in the top of a tool box in a shop since then so please excuse the quality. In one photo you can see the deck had not been painted white yet, and the GOLD and RED flake are definitely visible. The boat was flipped over and the bottom was painted white before the deck was, that is why it is white on the bottom in this picture.

There other picture you can see the RED where it meets the lip on the deck just like in the photo of when it was setting on the trailer from back in the day. The boat was yellow when we got it and that is why you can see some yellow across the back of the transom. The motor in the picture was set in the boat back then just for shits and grins. If you were curious... I hope this helps some of of you out there on whether or not it is a real Panic Mouse.

Can any of you tell us how to get ahold of Buddy Wilton? He may have some pictures he might be willing to share for this project and and some information that we are unable to find as we are clear out in the middle of Missouri. I must tell all of you that I am having a difficult time tring to sleep at night thinking of all of the stuff you all are chattering about concerning this boat. It really is incredible!

Anyway, anything info that would help us would be awesome!!!

Mike

P.S. I am an idiot when it comes to computers so please bear with me:D
