Where will the races be? If I actually had an income and didn't work on weekends I might have been able to make it. Our boat hasn't touched the water all year.

"race" and "cheap" never go together. How about some more details?

So who's "we" and where are "we" located. More importantly, where are "we" gonna race.... Need a bit more info here.
FWIW, Been a lot of discussion of the concept and pretty much been poo-pooed by the existing paradigm.... Ask GN7, it will never work....

The original post is why it will never work. You don't start a thread about a new class your trying to start with out a chit load of info. If this is a scam, it a terrible attempt at starting a new class. Under what organizing body. Two small blocks, 1 a 383, the other a 327, one a Canary, the other a Buck Smith, running in circles can only be deemed a race, let alone a class, in maybe Idaho. Every where else in the country, its called chasing your tail. This class has 2 chances in hell of ever getting started. One of those chances as already posted on this thread. The other has never posted on this site. Never say never David. But it is up to the people who want this class. I bet if you ask Ross how many people wanted the enduro to come back, it was 5 times as many as have ever raced it. Where are all those people. This class looks to no different. Just a bunch of sunshine racers.

OOPs EDIT: 3 chances in hell of happening, and 2 have posted on this thread.

If it is -800 HP then it will be closer to ours. Ours is only 200 HP.

    Hi

We're trying to get 4 (or more) small block flatbottoms out to Parker, Az on Thanksgiving. The "we" are Grich, Jim Wilkes, Jeff Wooton and Al Benson.

    Hi

Some people have asked about some rules for the SE, small block, flatbottom class. ObviouslY, we use the general runabout rules for the hull. As for the engine, yes, we wrote some very TENTATIVE rules for the class. We can't have real rules until we have a class, so those TENTATIVE rules can change.
The engine Grich built for Jeff was a 350 Chevy, 10-1 comp, .060 over with totally STOCK, iron heads. It had an ISKY 547B flat tappet cam and a dual plane manifold with a STOCK 650 Holley on top and headers. We allowed for no exotic parts (titanium, for instance) and Jeff had 3 grand in parts in it. (Probably what a PS crank would cost.)
We put the motor in my boat and were quite satisfied. We won the Nostalgia championship with it and most of the heats we entered. It ran and ran and ran. It was inexpensive and easy to run and maintain and was it FUN!!

    Default smallblock class

I believe there will be 5 or 6 small block flats running circle at Waitt's lake in Washington in 2 1/2 weeks.
So what are the class rules?

Uh oh! The third chance in hell just showed up, and he has friends Heres the way I see this. If between FC Pilot, Wannabe, Grinch, Wilkes, Benson, and Wooten(although I thought it was the other one) and the current conditions that can/will allow this class to form, if it can't come together, then it should be killed, buried and forgotten. this is the the best chance your are ever going to get. If there are boats in Washington, that really want to see this class happen, they need to get down here Thanksgiving weekend. Thsi racing season may be the best chance ever to see this get started.

All the time I was nay saying the other threads, I knew there were people (real honest to god people) that wanted to get this going. Not a bunch of mavericks going their own way, saying I have the best idea, follow me. If you are truley interested in this class, get off your ass and put a boat on the water. Or for ever hold your peace. (just my nice way of saying stop the whining and get to racing)
