Terrible news. A great guy that passed away WAY too young. Prayers to the family.

Default My Condolences to the Braaksma Family

I`ve know Ron for 12 years or so. He helped me with my 1st sanger & the 2nd one. Then when I decieded to build a new flat, I talked with Andy Dement & worked the deal, then I called Ron before I pulled the trigger just to make sure I could do it.... He gave me a bunch of confidence & told me how to make the tool that would allow me to drill the bottom of my new hull. I could call him anytime of the day & he would listen to all my retarded questions & then give me the answer! Then he would say ( You know what I mean )?????? He will truly be missed by thousands & especially Me..... God speed Ron

    Default Very sad news indeed

I was fortunate enough to have worked with Ron and Susie on the Madness TFH boat back when they just got started and then for about 5 or 6 seasons after. Never had I met two more dedicated people to the sport. Ron worked two jobs and Susie full time as well just to be able to support the boat, the word dedicated somehow comes up short in describing them. This was when capsules had just been mandated for the upper classes and as you might imagine, time, money and technology were all in short supply. As some have already shared Ron would work tirelessly on his boat and when done help others sharing his knowledge and labor, knowing this would help save lives and keep the sport going he loved so much. The sport has lost a true champion.

I am proud to have called him a friend.

Default loss to all and the sport

Just learned of this Loss. An absolute Icon to the sport of Dragboat Racing. Yet he was one of the most approachable men with an incredible wealth of knowledge. He was as giving and considerate individual to all, from the veteran to the rookie. We have all lost in so many ways. But we are all so fortunate to have known him. I consider myself lucky to have spoken to him and learned from his experience when I rebuilt my boat. Thanks for your friendship and contribution Ron. You are missed....Sam V
