Terrible news. My thoughts and prayers to his family.
Damn????? Didn't know Ron very well. Met him at redbluff nitro nats, got him to autograhp a tee shirt and talked boats for a few minutes. Talked to him once on the phone about props for a few minutes, and read some of his post here on the boards. He will be missed. Race in peace
He will be missed but I'm all our hearts . A portion of a legend is with us each time these water rockets are launched. A true legend and icon of the sport. He is now watching over us and his words will be heard .
I just heard the news earlier today. RIP Ron, you will be missed. Everyone that knew him had a great story of his dedication and love for the sport. I have a bunch, but here's a couple that meant a lot to me....
In Phoenix early 90's, we had a problem with our motor that required pulling it during Friday's test n tune. We didn't have an engine hoist but a couple people suggested I as Ron to borrow his. I was reluctant as I was just a bracket racer and didn't know Ron at the time, but also desperate enough to do it anyway. He not only offered up his hoist, but had be bring the boat to his pit to do it. Said since they weren't running yet, they had lots of time and a couple of his guys helped me fix it. Wouldn't take a dime for his efforts so all I could do was buy a bunch of shirts. Nothing in it for him but he didn't hesitate for a second....
Time goes by and we break a prop shaft in Bako in 09. He makes one up for us on a Saturday, we pick it up and get to race on Sunday. I could go on, but the man is a legend in my eyes....
talked to him numerous times on the phone over the years, always was willing to give advice and help. very nice guy. RIP Ron!

Very sad news indeed! Ron was an icon in this sport we love. His legacy will live on far beyond his years and extend across our sport throughout time. Thanks Ron for all your contributions, sacrifices, innovations and good times!
Prayers go out to his family.
