Havasu for Memorial Day 2012

Has anyone been to Havasu in the last year or two for Memorial Day? We've had a house in Havasu for 10 years and have never gone on Memorial Weekend. My kids are now 11 & 13 and I am trying to talk my husband into going... he says it will be too crazy. I know it used to be, but not sure if it's still that way.

Everyone goes to Havasu for Memorial...and it is crazy. Traffic is terrible and the water is an ocean. It's a huge party. Despite all that I enjoy being there during memorial but with my 20' jet boat I really can't.

Ive been going to Havasu on memorial day weekend since 94
all through the 90s and early into 2000 it was crazy
but since about 2005 it seems to be tailing off
and not nearly as crazy as it used to be especially the last 2 or 3 years
back in the day Crazy horse campground would be full with a shit load of people in the over flow area and the last 5 or 6 years the regular campground still had spots available with nobody in overflow

Mini sand bar only seems to get really crowded on saturday
there still are a lot of idiots and rookies but theres idiots and rookies every weekend during the summer

I agree, it's tapered off on the big weekends the past few years. I really miss the capacity crowds of 20 years ago. The overflow at Crazy Horse was the stuff of legend!
