This really doesn't have to do with a Winger, but I need some advice on a Louisiana title. I'm looking at buying a boat from LA and have been shown a title for the trailer, but only a registration card for the boat. Oklahoma will require a title for both, does LA? Thanks for any input you guys can give.
The boat/trailer are an '89 if it makes a difference.
Thanks for the reply, I'm afraid this is what I'm up against. I bought a bought from Kansas several years back and was only provided a bill of sale, complete hassle.
Kansas does not title there boats or trailers. When selling a boat in Kansas all is needed is a bill of sale and sign the reg over. Ive tried selling kansas boats in OK and MO and its always a no deal becuase of the title thing. Other states need to honor how other states do business. An OK title is worthless to me as a Kansasan. I do have an OK title for my TX though should i ever decide to sell her.
I'm in Louisiana and the boat registrations use to have a place to sign over to new owner, now it doesn't. You would have to get a notarized bill of sale. And it's a good thing if you get a copy of the sellers drivers license.
The Oklahoma Tax Commission says with a notarized bill of sale, notarized marine inspection and the registration they'll issue a title......We'll see, I bought the boat anyway.
