Should be a pretty interesting season. Racing in feb I like it. Maybe I will actually get to make a pass in Parker this time. Jeremie, thank you for all your hard work and making a place for us to go burn fuel.

I looked at that tempe town lake on google maps, it doesn't look like there is a long enough stretch without bridges to set up a course. Is there enough room? I'm sure some guys would love to get away from that nasty firebird water.

i live about 800ft from it. hard to say about shut down length. the biggest problem would be the launch ramps i believer theres really only 1 in the middle of the lake body. it would be a sick venue fan wise it would draw a pretty big crowd. I had heard it was looked into as a venue for circle boats but there was alot of red tape. keep in mind it has a rubber damn so youd prolly want to race away from that in case of any runaways.

The APBA did have a scheduled date to run. It had to be changed due to Catrina, and it was never rescheduled. Ramp would be and issue, ony one, I supose the could launch off the sandy area under Mill, maybe?? Rubber dams on both ends, which way do you want to go?

I have a property on Tempe town lake ( 525 ) and I have never actually been to the lake until today. I walked the entire South side ( opposite of the freeway ) and seen the ramp you speak of in the middle of the lake, however there are actually 4 more smaller in/out ramps that could be used for rescue and safety crews AND a pretty sweet location for a potential launch ramp. You bring up a good point as for runaways ( top fuel ) heading towards the rubber dam. I think worst case scenario we run West instead of East but then you have to worry about smashing or running into concrete from the bridge.

The pits would obviously be the parking lots North of the football stadium. If we were to run West the big launch ramp is closest to those parking lots/pits and the other location that would work best is on the North side of the lake closest to the 202 freeway and with that the city would have to shut down a few roads and Mill Ave bridge for us to get back to the pits or starting line. It is doable. I think the biggest challenge will be spectators on the lake premises as far as controlling crowd clusters and people sneaking in. In my opinion for what it would cost to get the lake for four days you could have a big vendor like Coors, Coke or Monster to pay that and give them exclusive vending and they will make their money back no problem and it makes a huge impression on our sport.

Awesome potential venue.. I just cant see running under the bridges safely, even if their in the shut down area.
