Hey everyone....

So this year I did a full makeover of my stereo which was the original from 02 so you could only imagine how terrible it was. Rattles, broken mounts, terrible sound quality, no ipod hookup and CD player was terrible.

To start, the front speakers were hanging off because the mounting plastic was so thin that a good wave let them go. The white speakers were pretty much almond/yellow from the sun over 11 years, the amp was mounted under the seat where no air flow could get to it and it wasn't even bolted down, the wiring was car style instead of marine grade. So you can pretty much tell that whoever did the stereo was not a genius. Especially considering the headunit was mounted to a square box that sat in the midcabin area but wasn't bolted down to anything (looked like absolute garbage.

So to begin I ordered everything from Sonic Electronix. They had the best prices and got it all to my house within days.

The head unit ---
Sony CDX-M60Ui Marine CD/MP3/WMA Stereo w/ USB iPod Connect

Amp---
Clarion XC6410 4-Channel XC Series 250W Marine Amplifier

Speakers ---
Kicker 11KM6LW (KM6LW) 6" 2-Way KM Light-Up Coaxial Marine/Boat Speakers

Headunit Guard ---
Boss MRC5 Boss MRC5 Universal Marine Radio Cover

Wired Remote ---
Sony RMX60M/L (rmx60ml) Wired Remote Control for select Sony Head

Amp Install Kit
NVX XKIT44 100% Copper 4 Gauge Car Amp Install Kit w/ 4-Ch RCA

Speaker Wire ---
JL Audio XM-WHTSC16 Speaker Wire 16-gauge marine speaker wire — priced per foot at Crutchfield.com

So after getting everything here I started the massive tear down and ripping out all the old stuff. Wanted to start all brand new and have solid connections everywhere. Ended up flush mounting the stereo head unit into the wall in the midcabin area on the starboard side and the amplifier on the port side against the wall. All wiring was soldered then used heat shirk to cover. Overall I think it came out absolutely gorgeous and really made a huge difference in the look along with sound quality. Posted some before and after pictures to check out. Took me about 3 days of 5-7 hour days but that is only because I'm the most OCD guy you could think of so all the time to use zip ties and out wear on any exposed areas took a lot of extra time. Am I happy though? 150%..... did I get frustrated and have alot of rug burn..... absolutely.... but I'm a lot happier and can sleep a lot better knowing that no corners were cut nor cheaped out on.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me or comment and I'd be more than happy to answer to the best of my abilities. It took me a solid month to research and mix-match different combos before I ordered along with calling a lot of shops before deciding to go the route I did.

Enjoy the pictures!!!!!

Don't have one of the amp at the moment but you can see some of the old equipment I took pictures of before throwing it away.

Here is a pic of the new amp mounted on the wall downstairs. The idiot before me had the old amp under the seat not even bolted down (held in place with a piece of styrofoam. Mounted the amp about 1/2 inch off the wall so there is good air flow all around. As you can see from the previous amp its a little bit updated and 10 pounds lighter. haha

fyi.... all these pictures were uploaded sideways for some reason so if you think that are off angle that is because they aren't posted correctly.
