I just got back from the Lake of the Ozarks from the 20th anniversary Shootout. The Shootout was preceded by a Poker Run put on by Darrel Holcomb and the crew from PowerBoatParty.com.
There were an estimated 80 boats playing In the Poker Run that stopped at all of the usual LOTO hangouts. We started at host venue Coconuts Bar and Grill
Darrel got me into the PowerboatParty.com helicopter,
we started with the second group for the start of the Poker Run.
The second group was led out by the Darrel and the crew from Hawkeye Boats in their bad ass 40 foot Baja Split decision.
We never did catch up to the first group of boats we even hopped over a few of the hills but only caught them at the first stop at Big Dicks Half Way Inn.
Then we headed over to the second stop Captain Ron’s
which was also the Host venue for the Shoot Out that would be held the following day. The docks at Captain Ron’s were definitely the who’s who in Performance Boating. There was enough horsepower on the docks to send something to the moon. Canadian Thrust 50 foot Nortek Turbine
35 foot Nordic Flame with a single 1000++HP twin drive 33 Foot Eliminator Daytona with 1200+HP per side
Play Craft Pontoon with Twin 300’s
Then we headed over to Captains Galley,
Dog Days ,
Frankie and Louie’s,
Horny Toad then back to Coconuts for the stereo contest and party..
While in the air I was able to shoot a few pictures of some serious Performance boats in action.
and Slug Heffner’s awesome new Skater Dirty Duck. This picture was actually shot from the air, I thought we were going to get wet on this one.
Once again Darrel and his team did a great job with the Poker Run and I’m looking forward to the next Poker Run in Lake of the Ozarks.
