    Default Jones Starfire SE-13

A series of unfortunate events has put me in the position that I need to consider selling my StarFire. Not something I want to do, but there it is. The boat has been completely gone thru and re-rigged using only the best materials available. In the paint and fiberglass section there is a build thread called 'Floor Fix' that details the work and energy put into doing the job of restoration correctly. This is that boat. 2 layers of 11oz carbon fiber wrap the stringers and the entire foredeck has been covered in carbon fiber as well. This is a very unique Starfire, as it is a sidewinder with offset stringers. First time on the water it set a record in the 'E' runabout class, and it won the very first heat I ever ran it in. The boat is in good shape and just needs a new driver. Complete with custom made fitted tarp.
Complete, ready for the next heat. $11,000.
    Less motor (My preference) $7,000.
Without motor would include motor mounts and lifting slings & brackets.
More pictures are available upon request.

Steve Jones built Starfire hulls out of the State of Washington. I have a D'cucci copy of a Starfire hull. My deck is different and I've never quite seen a deck like the one in the pictured but Steve made a bunch of different decks. The boat in the pictures looks to have the rounded reverse transom and rounded bottom just like mine. If you do a web search for Steve Jones Starfire boats you'll find some pictures and information. Dave Villwock has one that maybe the fastest boat in the country under the right conditions. Stickman over on the performance boat v-drive site used to work for Steve and may have more information on that boat. Not sure if he's on this site or not. Steve did not believe in adjustable plates but his hulls had some really different plates on them. Tim

I did not write this but found it on another site as I was wondering the same.

    Default Deck

The deck on my Starfire is the typical early flat deck. The reason it looks different may be due to the entire foredeck being recovered in carbon fiber. The deck had the usual cracks and checking so instead of working on each crack or area, I re-covered the entire deck. Many of the Starfires had a raised dash/windbreak attached to the deck directly above the steering. That creates a different look as well.

The short answer is the Starfire did not respond well with the typical Cav plate setup. My understanding is the over ride had a tenancy to blow the back up out of the water as opposed to dropping the nose. There are several Jones hulls around with a version of foot controlled cav plates, however the amount of plate that is adjustable is limited as is the amount of adjustment.
