    Default 454 install

I just put in a used 454 in my eliminator mojave. Motor sounds real good but when the boat planes out it seems to hang out at 35mph and is at ful throttle. Pump worn out maybe? Seems like there is no power but is running real smooth and sounds good. Berkley jg with 454, oval port heads, edelbrock 2-0 intake and edelbrock 750 cfm and hei.

Only because i worked on one today....The mechanical advancer
in the dizzy isn't stuck is it? Vac. advance disconnected and total timing checked at 2500-3000 rpm? Carb is opening all the way?
What was max rpm? Are you sure every cylinder is firing? A dead miss isn't as easy to hear in a boat compared to a car but the power loss is more noticeable in a boat

Advance total @36. Seemed to work fine on the trailer. Carb is brand new but I'll check for cable slippage and full opening. WOT rpm was about 4000. What should a 454 rap out to? My first bbc! Carb big enough? All cylinders firing vac advance plugged off. Thanks for helping!

'Work fine, run fine on the trailer" That right there is the problem. The better it runs on the trailer, the worse it will run in the water!

Well I found an issue with the throttle cable. Was not getting wot! Took her out and ran 46mph gps. Had a great time until she spun a bearing...750$motor will only give so much! Anyone know a good machinist in Boise Idaho? B.O.A.T. BOLT ON ANOTHER THOUSAND! Or four or five! I'll post pics when I tear into it.
And wes I totally agree the better she runs on the trailer the worse in the water! LOL!

That motor is sweet! Gotta save up a little dough. Keeping all my options open. Might use the one I got for a hot rod project down the road. Nothing wrong with parts laying around! Im thinkin 600hp would be plenty for the mojave. Kinda big boat to be going more than 65mph. Not that I know from experience though...just my .02!
