First the disclaimer... don't work for or make anything from this site.
I've lived on the Delta for 3 years now and was a bit intimidated at first with all the water ways that looked exactly alike. The web site www.activecaptain.com is a resource I found that's pretty kewl (IMHO). At the site, click on Interactive Cruising Guidebook, zoom in on the Delta and notice the markers for marinas, anchorages and hazards. This is a user-built database where you can create, rate and/or comment on each marker.
It also allows you to toggle between the nautical chart view, plain google map and google satellite views. Also, by left clicking and holding it pops up a dialog box to build a route with waypoints you can keep on your own "card" or share with the world. The route feature provides total miles so it's useful for time/fuel planning. Registration is free and provides access to these "advanced" features. (It remembers your last "view" if logged in, so you don't have to find the Delta each time).
I know many of you dlb'ers have eaten at many of the waterside spots. It would be great to see more eatery reviews to plan lunch outings. Check it out and weigh in!
