Default Lake Don Pedro Poker Run

The Lake Don Pedro Poker Run will take place on Aug. 24, 2013. This has always been a great event with a great group of people. It is organized by houseboat owners and usually goes deep into the evening with multiple dance parities on the roof of various houseboats. Each stop includes something to drink and eat. All boats are welcome and typically less that 10 are hotboats. It is a fun day on the water. If interested contact Pat/Linda Boring. Houseboat name "Bedrock". Hope to see some fellow DLBers on the run. Details below:

    JOIN US FOR THE 2013
    LAKE DON PEDRO POKER RUN
    Homemade Salsa Challenge
    Date: Saturday August 24, 2013
    Time: 12:00 noon till 3:00
BBQ AND SALSA CHALLENGE TO START IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE POKER RUN
Join in on the fun for a whole day of activities. Get your group together and come play. Home base and registration point will be determined later (White Rock?) depending on lake level. Registration will begin Friday night and last until 11:45am on Saturday. Game starts at Noon.
You will receive 6 clues to various locations on the Lake and your Lucky Pedro Poker Game Card. After you solve the clue, you are off to draw your card. At each pick up point, you will draw a poker chip with a number on it. Each number corresponds with a master deck displayed at home base. Return to home base by 3:00 p.m. to have your game card recorded. We have placed a HOT SPOT on the Lake. If you find this card, you will be able to use it to make a winning hand. Don’t fret, an optional card can be purchased for $3.00 at home base to complete that winning hand. Pit Bosses will declare the winning hands. Poker Game: Best 5 cards wins. Rest must be discarded. All standard Poker Rules apply.
Each stop will be identified with a large poker card flag.
Cost is $10 a hand, which includes lunch. Unlimited amount of hands can be purchased. T-shirts and tank tops can also be purchased for $15 each.
For more information or to pre-order your t-shirt/tank-top, contact

We did the poker run in 2010, had a blast. Doesn't look like we will make it this year.
Here's a pic pic of me from then.

Put on by a great group of Lake Don Pedro houseboat owners, I am fortunate to know several of them, in fact wife and I spent last Thursday as guest of some of those owners.

We've done the Poker Run a few times and it is a blast, unless you grenade your motor the day before. We will be there the weekend after, but just maybe hmm.
Rick, saw you air it out a bit coming out of the no ski area up by the river, boat sound healthy.

Sweet. It is fun to drive. Was I driving or one of my boys? They have been learning how to drive it safely and now not afraid of the throttle. Not sure it is a good thing.

The Poker run is a great all day event. Looks to be happening at "White Rocks" which is great for camping if anyone is interested. Sandy beach with good places for tents.

Unless the lake is drained by then, I believe I will attend. I went to Don Pedro for the first time last weekend with my boat and did the boat-in camping thing. First day the boat was out on the water this year and the weather/camping couldn't have been better. met some really cool people over in party cove and had a blast. LDP is definitely on my favorites list now!

Rick (or anyone) whats the access to fuel gonna be like on the "poker run course"? any idea of the course yet? Where is white rock campground and party cove located? Closer to Mocassin or DP Marina?

Would it be worthwhile to bring a flatty out or just too much hassle for refueling, distances and open water areas? Ive got like 20 gals on-board and can do about 20 miles.

Only 89 on the lake so if your need it you will need to bring it. The couse is not announced until the run starts. in fact they only provide clues to locations not actual spots. Pick up a local lake map at the marina and you will be able to find spots easily. "White Rocks" is very near Fleming Meadows. It is also know as Graveyard.

Please keep in mind this is no Desert Storm. Many are in family boats and patio boats. A few of us will be in perfromance boats. I doubt you will do more than 20 miles total but may have some rougher water than you like. The HQ for the run is "White Rocks" so may be a good spot for make some runs with an audience after the poker run. Bring the boat and let's burn some fuel. My $.02
