X2 on that. Straight from the California regs...

    California Boating Enforcement

Every peace officer of the state, city, county or harbor district is empowered to enforce general boating laws, navigation regulations, and local restrictions. Peace officers have the authority to stop and board any vessel where the peace officer has probable cause to believe that a violation of state law or regulations or local ordinance exists.

Excessive noise levels measured at a distance of 50 feet from the motorboat are described as exceeding:

86 dbA for engines manufactured before January 1, 1976.
84 dbA for engines manufactured on or after January 1, 1976, and before January 1, 1978.
82 dbA for engines manufactured on or after January 1, 1978.

From what I can recall from what Danny told me, there was never an actual noise measurement done in the first place. That being said, what probable cause did they have to stop him? I'm thinkin' he's got a case.

    Default The Verdict is...

3 years informal probation and a $2300.00 fine. No calases were required, and its not getting repoted to the DMV. I think I got off easy, and at the same time I definately learned my lesson.

My best advice to you is dont drink and boat. I thought everybody knew this already. If you were drinking and boating you deserve what you get. If you were drinking and got in an accident and hurt someone you would be going to prison for a while and probably lose everything. Time to GROW up. Party when the boats put away for the night.

1st of all I realized what I did was wrong, but I'm sure you dont know the entire storry. Like I said, yes I F'd-up and learned my lesson, and DO deserve what I got. I'm plenty GROWN up, and dont need some a-hole telling me what to do. I know when to party, and made a mistake. Sorry if I offended anybody by my wrong doing.
