Default Driving to Vegas thru Stanislaus Forest, good or no??

We are driving to Vegas this Saturday, leaving by 6am. How is the drive going thru Stockton & thru the Stanislaus National Forest & down the other side, eventually ending up on 95 south into Vegas? I know it will be a few hours slower but looking to see some of the terrain since I will be towing a boat back up here for a friend & traveling 5 & all the freeways coming back. Your thoughts? We have driven thru Tahoe & don't want to do that on this trip. Thanks for your input.

since theres no snow on the moutain im sure the pass is open all the way thru to 395, it gets closed sometimes during the winter. very beautiful area will add a few hrs to the drive have fun.

deltarat knows the name of the killer resturant along that route thru twain hart area

I call it the brain tube, I've been telling her the more time she spends on it, the smarter it's going to make her.

Good info, thanks. I just found out the pass is open & no issues getting over to 395. Hopefully Terry chimes in with that spot for grub. I assume there are spots to get diesel along the way. I don't like running below 1/2 tank on trips like that.

We've done quite a few rides over Hwy 108 or "Sonora Pass"... there are many really nice viewpoints along the way and then Mono Lake on the other side when you get to 395.

This was shot from "Monitor Pass" which is Hwy 89 (the next pass north of 108) - That is Tinkers HD in the shot - her bike is a cover girl now!

You shouldnt have any problem with weather this time of year, are you going over to Tonopah and then south on 95 ? or straight down thru Death Valley? gonna be HOT this time of year....

i have done the drive down 395, then cut through Death Valley to the 95. I drove it at night, but it was not a bad drive. I would definitely stop by Mono Lake on the way.
