    Default Thugs at Orwood

What's up with all the thugs at Orwood? I came in last night at about 8:30 - 9:00 with my daughter, just her and I after a long day out and we got "mother-fucked" and "yo homes gonna' kick yo ass and all dat"... from some ghetto thugs on a wakeboard boat. I guess they didn't like getting passed at speed but Christ! I get the whole gang threatening to "kick my azz cuz you don't know how da' bote motha fuck!" Where do these guys get off threatening people on the dock? Makes me want to launch somewhere else where they don't cater to that kind of clientele. I had to suck it up and tell them how sorry I was and that they are clearly more accomplished mariners than I and how I didn't mean to disrespect them. I put the Fountain on the trailer and hauled out of there as fast as I could, it was awful. I drove up to Safeway to secured and wiped down. I've never in all my years boating out here dealt with anything like that.

It's comical to get told off by a bunch of drunk kids when I've been on the water for 45 years. These kid have passed more water through their diapers than passed a prop!

The obnoxious I can deal with but the threats and intimidation are too much.

Orwood is getting over run with Idiots. I noticed it too, in fact we decided on Saturday that launching at Disco may be a better choice Personally I'm getting sick of the Ski Beach assholes. We should blanket that place with anthrax

Hopefully the stick to buying junk roll bar boats. It makes it easier to distinguish friend from foe. LOL.

Yeah I'm with you on this Adam, the long idle out and back is worth not having to deal with the payasos. I don't think Orwoods living up to their tag line "The Friendliest Place on the Delta."

    Amen
They are fair weather boaters, they wont be around when it cools off
Maybe someone should talk to the management at Orwood about their new clientele running off their steady income

Been launching at Holland Track the last few times because of that kind of chit. The ramp and facilities are rougher than Orwood, but the management is super cool and mostly fishermen launch there.

This is nothing new. Orwoods has been the 'go to' spot for all the rowdies and party'ers to launch at for the last 25+ years. There's been plenty of fights and drama there over the years. The management is well aware of it, and have now begun to put pictures of boats on Orwoods Facebook page of boats and their crew that are no longer welcome at Orwood. But, this won't be enough, there will always be the jackasses. This crowd, mostly the 'roll bar boats' only know how to get to Orwoods and then straight to ski beach, and that's about it.

I've got several buddies that only launch in Disco, as stated above, simply to avoid the drama. I've lived in Disco pretty much my whole life, and we've got a rule out here. If it's a hot summer day, late in the afternoon, keep in mind, all the drunks from ski beach are on their way to orwood to pull out. Most have something to prove, so steer clear.

p.s. I have found that passing boats on Indian Slough on your way back to Orwood, is pretty much a sure bet for drama.

p.s.s. Not all roll bar boats are bad guys.

    Just my 2 cents :-)

    Sad!
Just one more point of the changing times of boating on the delta.
I would probably get in trouble under the same circumstances.

We've been going to Orwood since the 70's, I've seen it all there too. I know the douche bag patrol is nothing new there, I remember the bleachers and the Saturday afternoon heckling. But it was usually a bunch of young studs rubbing horns, this was a bunch of thugs ready to pounce on 1 middle age guy and his young daughter. I even apologized for passing them up, I could understand it probably startled them since I could hear their beat over my big blocks.

No loss I know but I'll be going elsewhere from now on if this is the new status quo.

I am so tired of story after story about the Wakeboard Boat / Ski Beach Douche Bag crowd (on every body of water). I really don't understand their mentality. LAME!!

I have been boating for a long time and have seen many marinas, I don't think no matter where you go you will see these idiots! I really don't think the answer is running way from where we launch as for It will give the right to these "idiots" to take over and spread to the next marina and so forth...... Lofty, you did do the right thing and backed down, sometimes we have to be the bigger person even though it kills us.

I agree with you Pete. I've been launching at orwood since I worked there in high school mid 80's and I'll be dammed before some immature punks run me out of my hometown launch ramp. That being said, I do tread lightly, always smile, and bite my tongue when they're blaring inappropriate music amongst children. Nonetheless, I get in, I get out and always say 'nice boat' even when I'm shaking my head.

    What he said....

I wish they'd all go to ski beach and just stay there... all day. Those frigging wake surfing tsunamis really suck...
