I was in Stockton today and heard the same thing...and thought the same thing. I don't think it is a good idea. They had 3 boat contraptions out near the port today that were scooping the stuff up, dumping it on shore, and a tractor was hauling it away.

My buddy in Tampa hit 1 & did $10,000+ in damage to his drives & state/gov tried to fine him for endangering a protected animal.

The way our Government works and thinks ... you can probably count on this happening.

"Shit", they probably are responsible for the weeds.

Ya, they'll bring the manatees in and then make all the waterways 5mph like they did to all the intercoastal waterways in Florida! I've been saying it for years now that our time doing what we do is coming to an end. We will either see speed limits or flat-out no-use areas. The waterways truly are the last frontier that the government hasn't completely phocked-up yet........

holy chit i just looked up how big a manatee gets...they can't really be thinking about this that's like hitting a floating tree.

The coast of the state of Georgia is usually the northernmost range of the West Indian manatees because their low metabolic rate does not protect them in cold water. Prolonged exposure to water temperatures below 68 °F (20 °C) can bring about "cold stress syndrome" and death

I call it the brain tube, I've been telling her the more time she spends on it, the smarter it's going to make her.

Channel 2 news(KTVU) reported on Stockton's interest in Manatee's. It is a crazy idea, and apparently there are only 5000 left in Florida, and as stated above, they wont be able to handle the cold water..

So now we can see why Stockton City Council people ran this city into the ground and to bankruptcy.... Im sure they are the HIGH bidder on these manatees (from FLA) with money they dont have and will still put them in the cold water just to watch them die....

These people are so rediculously STUPIDO!!!! That should be the name of the TOWN!
