    Default Boating Background

I thought it would be interesting to see what kind of boats have been in your past. What you were around as a kid. What boats you've had. What you have now. Sort of your boat family tree. Pic would be great also.

well I am just in the beginning stages but am on my third boat.

    owned a 1986 Ski Centurion, 1997 Ski Sanger and a 2000 Raysoncraft.

Still have the 97 Sanger V210 ski boat and the Raysoncraft. I grew up around jets and flats but picked up skiing and wakeboarding early on.

The Sanger V210 is for sale. If anyone knows of anyone wanting a nice V-drive ski boat let me know. I will let it go cheap considering the time we all live in.

The boat I grew up with was a 1966 Kindsvater flat bottom with a nail head Buick that my Dad ordered new. In '74 my brother and I did a complete rerig and paint on that boat. We used it mainly on Turlock lake which was a Hot Boat meca in the day.
In the early '80s I dated a girl who's family was into ski-racing and Dad rigged race boats. He helped me get one of his Halletts. A 19' v-drive that looks like the Yellow Family Tradition boat that my son and I brought to Hookey Day this year
In 1996 I ordered a new Hallett Vector had it rigged by Jimmy Anderson and put a Bailey Bro's motor in it. It's the High Voltage Boat.
Last is our family cruzer a 24' Hallett that is now running a Gentry twin turbo that I'm dialing in.

    Mine is sort of uneventful. Parents bought a Cobalt back in the early 80s. Did alot of boating with the family around norcal. The hot boat bug bit me one weekend at Berryessa. I saw a guy in a blown daycruiser racing a Hydro, and I new right then that something fast was in my future. Started out riding tricked out stand up jetskis in the early 93. Then it happened in 97. I made a trip to the LA boat show and found the Stoker booth. The following weekend I was in San Pedro harbor taking a test drive. Two months later a bouncing baby Stoker was delivered. Ten years later, the brother, our wives, and I decide to step it up and pick up the houseboat. Well no houseboat is complete without a flock of jetskis. And finally in 2009 the latest addition is the 2005 Stoker 224. Jeff, I too have a lovely and understanding wife. I also have a boating problem. Thus the new name of the 224;

    ADDICTION OR AFFLICTION ?????

    Default My $0.02

Bought my first boat at age 12. It was a 1957 Lonestar closed-bow for $200 and immediately rebuilt the whole thing for fun. After $6k and two years, sold it for $500. Who has the problem now?

My next one was a 1977 Sleekcraft Aristocrat 21'. Am in the process of restoring it.

The next was a 1962 Trojan Sea Express 29'. The entire thing was wood. You couldn't change spark plugs without doing some varnishing somewhere. The first bottom job was $5k and that was enough for me. The other partners could have the stupid thing. It was a pretty boat though.

Next one has yet to be.

my first was an 18' sonic jet with a 460, we were on the lake almost everyday, that wasn't fast enough so got a 17' hondo and put the 460 in it, blew it up the first day out, then got an 18' belmont flat with a big chevy, sold that to a freind and now the boat is torn apart and full of water sitting in my yard, then the family came so we got a charger day cruiser built a 550 horse big ford used the hell out of that boat, in between the belmont and the daycruiser I had to build something and that was brendella drag hydro blown injected alcohol hemi, the day cruiser got boring so we got an SK jet for the family boat built a 650 horse big chevy, here are the pics of the two I own now, thats my boat bitch sittin in the last pic

My first boat was a 78 Spectra 21 Vdrive with a Harmon Marine 454. It was a all around great boat and we used the crap out of it. Unfortunately it was destroyed in a garage fire.
I was able to save the drive, engine and velvet drive. In 2001, I took the parts and trailer up to Defir Marine and Ray built and rigged a RaysonCraft 21, which I still have today.

Call me crazy but I still have the article from "readers rides" of the original Family Tradition. I have a collection of articles of VDRIVE boats I think there is one of Chip's boat, too.
If you don't have a copy, PM me your address and I will send it to ya.

    Default DsiDan- Not genetic

no boats of any significance in my childhood.
    • Moved to Disco Bay after 1 vist and bought a 1990 Supream TS, loved that boat
Met Drew, Troy, Don and Jim Mulby, bought the 1st "Air Warrior" and debuted it at Shasta's Boardstock.
Became better friends with Drew/Don and learned about "tunnels" man you can get to Garild Bros Fast.
Bought a 17" Bass Tracker- Gave it to Grand Pa, love that boat too..hem makes me keep it in my name in case he passes away.
Bought a Mach26 2w/280's, best boat Ive ever owned, Ask Mike St.Dennis..
Upgraded to the F26 that I have today- wanna buy it?
Oh yea somewhere in there is a house boat that G-Pa insist we use, wont let us pay for but threatens to sell if we dont used enough?
