    Default New Boat

    Hey everyone,

I pulled the trigger on a new boat. A 27 Eliminator Speedster with a 540 NA EFI motor. (yes car-boat motors rule ) ETA on build time is June, 2017.

This is essentially a 26 Daytona since it shares the same bottom. I know several of you have worked on or owned one of these over the years, so any tips on setup would be appreciated.

So far I figured out that I do NOT want to run an extension box. But I am still confused on what drive to run? Shorty, not a shorty.

Also my boat will be for sale. 2004 25 Daytona ICC, 496HO, XR drive, 269 hours, blue and white. (you heard it here first)

Congrats on pulling the trigger on the 27.
The XR drive should hold up to the 540, or go with the imco SC. -2" shorty if bolted on transom, -1.5" if on a standoff box. Would stick to 1.5 gears and start with a 28 pitch prop. I would Do full hydraulic steering also. JMO..

Congrats on the new ride!!! That will be amazing. What kind of HP and torque from the 540? Naturally aspirated or blower? Good luck with the sale of your beautiful 25.

    Sounds good.

Full hydraulic is gonna be standard on this build No standoff box.

This is the part I was wondering about so thanks!! So with the -2" shorty if I don't like it I can always shim it down?? (but not the other way around. i.e. make the longer lower unit shorter)

Isn't there a trade off with the shorter lower unit? I could be mistaken but a shorter lower unit may result in higher MPH but extends planing time? (assuming it was setup correctly) Or am I wrong on that one?

    Thanks

The 540 will be N/A (no blower) and should be in the 725HP range (not sure of torque)

My 25 Daytona, no stand off box, was a little more work to get on plane with the -2 lower. I had to be a little more aggressive with the throttle from the start but it wasn't bad at all. What are you asking for your 25? The Speedster is going to be amazing!! What colors? Congrats again

I need to get some spam posted up for the 25 Daytona but asking $58k.

New boat colors are going to be similar blue, white and maybe silver

the only thing I would suggest is trim tabs, they make it get on top much easier plus you can use them to get in and out of boat,CP makes some nice ones. definitely the 2" shorty on outdrive but i would go 1.35 gears and prop it to that, so in future if you want to step up HP.Congrats !
