Have you considered outboards? They are obviously an upgrade from a car motor.

Are you running the highest pitch prop possible? You may be able to drop your cruise speed RPM.

what bob said are you maxed out on your prop size? i do notice a little difference in fuel consumption from a 24p to the 26p with 26 giving me better/lower cruise rpm and top end speed. i also got better fuel consumption when i stopped trying to keep up with the fast guys as long as i know where we are going ill meet them there saved a few gallons of gas now the consumption from the cooler goes up as the ride is a little longer hell maybe im not saving shit after all

I call it the brain tube, I've been telling her the more time she spends on it, the smarter it's going to make her.

Emptying your ice chest will only lighten the boat if you dump the contents overboard, but it's a great concept ... lighten your boat for improved mpg.

Hey pirate, Kathy could ride in my boat.

Doesn't the boat have to be put in the water before you start worrying about mpg?
We ran 187 miles on Saturday and never once worried about how much fuel or oil we were burning. B&W to Discovery Bay, Stockton, Pittsburg, Golden Gate and back to B&W. It was an EPIC day.
