Default First timer to the Delta - have some questions

Bringing the family down to the Delta for the first time to attend the Poker Run event and experience the Delta. This is only our second season boating and have only boated on Lake Tahoe so I am looking forward to some performance gains at sea level.

    A couple of questions.
Should we stay in Sacramento (planning on Embassy Suites) or someplace farther south, or? We have 3 kids so a pool is almost mandatory.
Where is a good boat launch for a 30ft boat?
Any other pertinent information is appreciated as I want this to be a fun experience for the family.
    thanks

What Poker Run event are you going to and when?

Ok cool. We are going to that too, leaving Orwood at 9am to head up that by boat.
We are staying at the Embassy suites, not sure about a pool though. We are keeping the boat at River bank Marina, less then 3 miles away from Embassy suites and you can Uber there. How old are your kids? We will have our 12 year old boy with us and his friend.

Embassy Suites is nice and lots to do within walking distance. Try to get to Swabbies for lunch one day on your boat. If you feel like venturing south and burning some fuel, Steamboat Landing for lunch would be a nice cruise. Make sure you have plenty of fuel because there isn't much between Sac & Walnut Grove. If you are up for a longer run, the Point in Rio Vista has great food. If you really want to run it and make it a FULL day head out past my house and run out to SF Bay. Make sure to stay between the channel markers between Rio Vista and Benicia because there are shallow spots that Nice Pair can tell you about. Oceangoer knows his way around pretty well. The current in Sac is VERY strong so plan ahead when launching & docking. Have a safe trip.

So that link doesn't have much info. Kind of looking for something to do next weekend. Are there start times or organized stops?

Does anybody know the closest gas dock to Embassy Suites?

Are the docks secure at all from anybody walking by?

    Thanks

    Gary

Looks like things have changed Gary and looks more like a gathering now. Not sure on times when to meet up but we should be there around 11ish. I’m not sure Embassy Suites has docks but where we are keeping the boat at RIVERBANK marina has locked gates where the boats will stay overnight. As for fuel look at Lake PAL’s post.

There is fuel very close to Riverbank. Dont leave your boat unattended @ Embassy. Remember you will burn more fuel going upriver into the current.
